Flame retardant curtains, blinds and soft furnishings.
We specialise in working with non-domestic clients including care homes, hospitals, hotels and student accommodation where safety is paramount. It is vital (and a legal requirement) that curtains, blinds and soft furnishings are flame retardant. Fire is a very real risk and more common than many people think; 120 accidental fires started in Care Homes in London alone during 2016.
Working with the best suppliers, all our fabrics meet British FR standards for the contract industry, and you’ll be pleased to know that safety does not compromise style. Do get in touch with us if you need further guidance, we can easily help you in this important area.
British FR standard
In the UK the following standards apply for curtains and blinds (including blackout and linings)
- BS5867 Part 2 Type B - Hotels, Public Buildings and Offices.
- BS5867 Part 2 Type C - Hospital and Healthcare Environments, which also includes a requirement for minimum wash criteria.
Anti-ligature range.
Certain environments including mental health and dementia facilities require further safety measures for the added protection of vulnerable residents. Our anti-ligature range includes curtains and blinds that are made without loose cords and fittings that have load release mechanisms. Again this is something that we can advise on to meet your individual requirements. You don’t have to compromise on the look and feel either; we understand the importance of sensitive colour schemes and furnishings and the huge difference they can make in day to day living and recovery.
Antimicrobial range.
We have a good understanding and knowledge about anti-microbial fabrics and the benefits to healthcare environments that need to wash curtains and bedding at high temperatures (ie 71° degrees to reach thermal disinfection), this is also a requirement when supplying the NHS.
